Our Makaha Cabana

Here is some info about the cabana. The building is a single layer thick, so the units have a view of the ocean from one side of the cabana and a view of the mountains from the other side. The cabana is 500 sq. ft., including the lanai (balcony).

The cabana is fully furnished, along with a 25" TV, a DVD player, and a CD player/radio.

For those of you who do not know, Makaha is a small town on O`ahu. It's located on the west (leeward) side of the island, in a non-tourist area. Mostly locals live there. The closest town is Wai`anae, about 3 miles down Farrington Highway, which has a McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, a Subway, and a couple of local grocery stores.

If you'd like to get a feel for where it is, here is a link to a Yahoo! map.

The view from Farrington Highway, across the parking lot. The ocean is on the other side of the building. The unit is on the second floor, and it's the one right above the black SUV and a little to the left:

From the walkway in front of the unit, a view up the Makaha Valley. You can see the parking lot in the foreground.

Again from the walkway, this time looking more to the right. Beyond the trees and shrubs is the Pacific Ocean.

When you walk into the front door, this is what you see. This is a view of the living room and a portion of the kitchen.

To the right is the dining table with a built-in leaf to make it into a slightly larger table, and a small china hutch, both made of Koa wood. The hallway you see leads to the dressing area, bathroom, bedroom, and lanai.

This is the living room. The couch faces a small entertainment center with a TV. To the left are louvered windows with a view of the Makaha Valley. These provide an excellent breeze when opened.

This is what you see if you're sitting on the couch.

Now, if you look directly at the kitchen nook, this is what you see.

The kitchen is fully supplied with an electric stove, refrigerator/freezer, dishes, silverware, bowls, pots & pans, and baking supplies. The kitchen also has a coffee pot, toaster, blender for those tropical drinks, and even an iron for those who need it. Sorry, no dishwasher.

If you walk down the hall and turn 90 degrees to your left, you'll be facing the bathroom door. Once you open the door, you'll be looking into the bathroom.

If you step into the bathroom and turn around, you'll be facing the dressing area with a sink and a mirror.

The blue door reflected in the bathroom mirror is a linen closet with all the items you'll need: queen size bed sheets, large bathroom towels, beach towels, washrags and hand towels, laundry soap, and a fire extinguisher.

The bedroom has a queen size bed, ceiling fan, and a large dresser. It has a "pocket" door, so there is some privacy.

Behind the closed sliding doors is a laundry basket. To the side is a convenient table for your suitcase.

The closet has plenty of hangers and shelving along with beach chairs, a beach umbrella, and some sand toys.

The hill is called Lahilahi, and it's a State Park. You can walk along the base of it and out to the end for a beautiful view. If you are feeling really adventurous, you can try climbing to the top of it. The beach is known as Turtle Beach. You can often see wild Sea Turtles swimming in the bay, and you can also sometimes see porpoises and whales swimming further out. This bay is a fantastic spot for snorkeling.

The closer building is the Makaha Beach Cabanas; our condo is on the second floor. The taller building behind it is the Makaha Beach Princess, which is the only other condo building on the beach.
